
Ale-8-One Pound Cake
Cake:
1 c. butter – no substitutions
1/2 c. shortening
3 c. sugar
3 c. flour
5 eggs
12 oz. Ale-8-One
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. lemon juice
Glaze:
1 c. Ale-8-One
2 c. sifted powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Cream butter, shortening and sugar together. Mix remaining ingredients and add to creamed mixture. Combine well. Pour into greased and floured loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees on the center rack for 90 minutes or until it tests done. Let cake rest in pan for 15 minutes. Remove from pan and place on a wire rack. Poke holes in cake with wooden skewer and drizzle with glaze. Cool completely before serving.
